Footsteps Care expects all employees to understand and promote its policies and procedures in their work.

Duties include caring and supporting children and young adults with mild to severe learning disabilities and or mental health needs daily. Meeting their daily needs, supporting them to access the community, attend appointments and support them with any medication. Some children and young adults may require support with some personal care, as well as records and report writing.

​

Other duties such as meal planning, cooking, cleaning, and other household chores maybe required.

​

To be eligible for the job all candidates must be aged over 21 years. You will be required to be flexible over a seven-day week and commit to attending all staff meeting and training. You must be able to communicate on a range of different levels and have a good command of English. It is essential that you are able to form relationships with the children and young people and be able to write detailed reports using the observations you have carried out.

​

Ideally, candidates will have at least one years’ experience in a caring background with children or young adults; however, full training can be given to those applying without experience. Candidates will have a level 3 in residential care but again, this is not essential, providing candidates are willing to embark on the level 3 once they have commenced employment. It is desirable that candidates have knowledge of the Childrens Act and have experience and/or knowledge of challenging behaviour.
