We are always looking to recruit compassionate, hardworking individuals to join one of our wonderful teams within Footsteps Care Group.

​

Here at Footsteps care, we pride ourselves on providing care and support to children and young adults to reach their full potential. We require all staff to be compassionate, empowering, kind, enthusiastic, understanding and be able to work on their initiative as well as working as part of a dynamic team to strive for the best for all our children and young adults.

​

As a support worker, you will play the vital role of a "corporate parent," which means you're responsible for providing the nurturing, guidance the child requires.  This involves not just looking after their physical well-being but also their emotional and social development whilst supporting and promoting their education.

​

The role include Providing Emotional Support offering consistent emotional support, building trust and helping children and young people navigate complex emotions. You will play a fundamental role in creating a safe and supportive environment which offers stability and security.

​

You will be a positive role model upholding and demonstrating values like respect, kindness, patience, and responsibility. You help guide them on building healthy relationships and manage conflicts. You will work as part of a professional network, advocating for the children and young people in your care and ensuring the child’s emotional, physical, and educational needs are met.

 

In this role, compassion and empathy are essential. You must be patient, understanding, and non-judgmental, offering unconditional support to children who may be dealing with difficult pasts.

Footsteps Care expects all employees to understand and promote it's policies and procedures in their work.

​

Duties include caring and supporting children and young adults with mild to severe learning disabilities and or mental health needs daily. Meeting their daily needs, supporting them to access the community, attend appointments and support them with any medication. Some children and young adults may require support with some personal care, as well as records and report writing.

​

Other duties such as meal planning, cooking, cleaning, and other household chores maybe required.

​

To be eligible for the job all candidates must be aged over 21 years. You will be required to be flexible over a seven-day week and commit to attending all staff meeting and training. You must be able to communicate on a range of different levels and have a good command of English. It is essential that you are able to form relationships with the children and young people and be able to write detailed reports using the observations you have carried out.

​

Ideally, candidates will have at least one years’ experience in a caring background with children or young adults; however, full training can be given to those applying without experience. Candidates will have a level 3 in residential care but again, this is not essential, providing candidates are willing to embark on the level 3 once they have commenced employment. It is desirable that candidates have knowledge of the Children's Act and have experience and/or knowledge of challenging behaviour.
